TAISMHO DOES
NOT recommend purchasing manufactured housing,
nor will we recommend a specific manufacturer. It would
be inappropriate for us to recommend this product to
you, since in our opinion it is improbable that the
product that is delivered to you will be constructed
in manner that is consistent with all applicable federal
manufactured home construction and SAFETY standards.

All of the questions that are asked on the "FTC
Complaint Form" are listed below as they appear
on the FTC complaint form. Below some of the questions
and in RED italic letters
below the questions are some suggestions to assist
you with filling out the form. These are only comments
or suggestions and whether you use them is entirely
up to the person filling out the complaint form.

How Do We Reach You?
In the questions that follow,
you are asked for contact information. Do not
leave any of the contact information spaces
blank, regardless of whether you want the FTC
to contact by one of those listed. If you only
want the FTC to contact you by one of the methods,
you should state which one in the space provided
above (i.e., email, home phone, work phone,
mail, etc).

If you are having problems
with your manufactured home, from the pull
down menu, select "Home". The problems
are with the home, regardless of the cause
or who caused them.
Name of Company You Are Complaining About:
The name of the primary or
parent corporation for the brand of manufactured
home you purchased should be entered. To determine
the name of the Parent Corporation, address,
and telephone number, click on this link "brands
listing" and then click
on the brand for the home you purchased (Note:
read comments at the top of the brands listing
page).
It is recommended that you
DO NOT interject your judgment or sentiments
into who did or caused what. The manufacturer
designed and assembled their product, and certified
that they had ensured that your purchase would
provide safe, durable, and habitable housing.
It is the manufacturer’s manufactured
home—let them take care of figuring who
or what caused THEIR certification to be false
or misleading in a material respect.

How Did the Company Initially Contact You?: "Click" Arrow for Choices
Even if you were driving by
a retail lot when you made your decision to
purchase a particular brand of manufactured
home, you were influenced by a form of advertisement.
To the best of your memory, select from the
pull down menu, what type of advertisement
made you first think about buying the brand
of manufactured home you purchased.
How Much Did the Company Ask You to Pay?:
This is the amount of your
loan, less the closing cost for the loan. If
you paid the FULL amount of your purchase from
your own money, then the amount that you paid.
How Much Did You Actually Pay the Company?:
This is the amount of your
loan, less the closing cost for the loan. If
you paid the FULL amount of your purchase from
your own money, then the amount that you paid.
How Did You Pay the Company?: "Click" Arrow for Choices
Even if you borrowed the money
from a Bank or Lender to make your purchase,
the Bank or Lender paid the manufacturer and/or
the manufacturer’s sales agent, whether
they were independent or franchised, the full
amount for the product you purchased, from
the PROCEEDS of your loan.
From the pull down menu, select "CASH".
The only variation to this would be if you
arranged to make installments directly to the
sales agency or manufacturer, i.e., you make
your monthly house payment check or money order
payable to John Doe’s dealership, or
directly to the manufacturer.
This does not include any division
or subsidiary of the manufacturer or the manufacturer’s
sales agent(s), which acts as a lender. For
example, Oakwood Homes has a subsidiary named
Oakwood Acceptance Corporation (OAC). If you
are paying OAC, you are not paying the manufacturer
directly for your home.
REPRESENTATIVE OR SALESPERSON First Name:
Last Name:
Date Company Contacted You: (MM/DD/YYYY)
This date does not have to
be exact, and it would be the date that you
first saw or heard something that led to [your
decision to purchase] the brand of manufactured
home that you purchased. If you cannot remember
this date, then use the date on the purchase
contract or agreement for your home.
Explain Your Problem: (Please limit your complaint
to 2000 characters.)
For the above section, you
can, but do not have to, select the type of
defect or problems that you are experiencing
with your home from the "Filing an FTC
Complaint" web page, i.e., (1) structural
defect(s), (2) plumbing defect(s), (3) Manufacturer
Warranty not honored, (4) Cost to correct manufacturer’s
violations of 24 CFR part 3280 - $500, etc… If
you are experiencing more than one problem,
list each one on a separate line.
It is your choice as to whether
you use the information provided on the "Filing
on FTC Complaint" page, but Remember – KEEP
IT SIMPLE and as short as possible. The more
drawn out your comments, the more difficult
it will be for the FTC to categorize or classify
your complaint.
Remember that filing an FTC
complaint does not have to be a one-time deal.
If you experience new problems after filing
the original complaint, you can file a new
complaint, listing the new problems.
